A small Android 4.3 update has started arriving on Nexus devices.
Although the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013 versions), Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 10 have only just got the Android 4.3 update, this new minor 2MB tweak has been touted as a security update.
Version number JWR66Y replaces JWR66V and it's also thought to iron out a few bugs seen on the first version of
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
There's no official change log according to Android Beat, meaning we'll have to rely on Nexus users to supply us with any changes they encounter with the update.
Many of our readers who have already updated to Android 4.3 are complaining of problems plaguing their Nexus devices including battery issues, the device crashing halfway through installation and other hiccups.
Alex Yordanov told us, 'worst update ever... camera issues, flashlight problems, hell it even crashed today when I received a txt, since Ive go updated it crashes around 5 times a day... just unacceptable GOOGLE, sort it out quick,' while Pad said, 'Do not update to 4.3 it ruins the phone my phone now overheats, battery life is crap and it switches of randomly and reboots when I am doing things a big let down by Google not happy at all!.'
Another Know Your Mobile reader said, 'My n4 is randomly shutting off since the update even with a full battery. I was late for work because it shut off after I hit snooze. Starts up and runs fine otherwise. Netflix works only if you don't touch the screen after the video starts. I couldn't turn the volume up with headphones beyond 50%, trying to do so crashes the app.
Simpsons Tapped Out game also crashes randomly. The phone hasn't turned off since I uninstalled Netflix so we'll see.'
However, it's not all doom and gloom with some users reporting a positive view.
RenoflightRN said, 'Both speed and battery life have improved for me. To get the update installed was a pain though, since I ran a custom ROM before. Had a few bootloops, but after another reset and clean install, it's all good. Really like it now. Almost like a completely new phone' and Mirza said, 'Well i'm not having any issues with my nexus 4, in fact my phone is more responsive and more buttery smooth then when it had 4.2, I feel bad for people who are having issues with their nexus 4 :(.'
Meanwhile, other Android device users are still waiting for the update to hit devices. The HTC One is said to be the first non-Nexus device to get the update in the coming weeks.
